Heavy flat-strap, plain leather bridle Heavy-gauge reins and hunting breast plate A standing martingale may be used Properly fitting jumping or all-purpose saddle White fleece or sheepskin saddle pad, fitted, not square, clean and devoid of ornamentation Appropriate bit to allow control, with care not to over-bit Braiding is proper for Opening Meet, Blessing of the Hounds, Joint Meet, and Thanksgiving Braiding is optional at other meets and Hunter Trials, but makes a nicer presentation and is always encouraged
