• Heavy flat-strap, plain leather bridle
• Heavy-gauge reins and hunting breast plate
• A standing martingale may be used
• Properly fitting jumping or all-purpose saddle
• White fleece or sheepskin saddle pad, fitted, not square, clean and devoid of ornamentation
• Appropriate bit to allow control, with care not to over-bit
• Braiding is proper for Opening Meet, Blessing of the Hounds, Joint Meet, and Thanksgiving
• Braiding is optional at other meets and Hunter Trials, but makes a nicer presentation and is always encouraged
